Naked & Afraid

I shake so much
that I’m sure it’s
obvious to the watchful
crowd
Try to hide my trembling
and nerves behind
a mic stand
My voice feels like
a whisper echoing off
the walls of my throat
Growing until it fills
the room with words
I only ever dreamed of
hiding in closed journals
leaving them to collect dust
on shelves
An eternity of sharing
spoken in a rush of
emotional syllables
and open naked
vulnerability
